Generous 12-year-old has wish fulfilled by Eagles after helping homeless

A 12-year-old boy from Philadelphia who has dedicated his own Make-A-Wish experience to helping others saw one of his personal dreams fulfilled Thursday.

It happened in the form of a surprise visit from Eagles players Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley at training camp.

Sam Okyere, who has been battling a blood disorder, used his wish to host a “family day” at Families Forward, a West Philadelphia homeless shelter, choosing to give back rather than receive something for himself.

But Sam’s next wish was to meet Hurts. The Eagles got word and it came true.

Hurts and Saquon Barkley stopped by after camp Thursday to spend time with Sam.

“I heard you were trying to do a good deed and you wanted to help and serve others. To see you doing it at such a young age is mighty impressive. Keep it up,” Hurts said.

Sam and Hurts bonded over video games, including NBA2K and Mario Super Smash Bros., while Sam encouraged Barkley to get back into LEGO building.
