Game balls for SW Florida high school football top Week 5 performers
South Fort Myers knocked off Community School of Naples, Barron Collier held off Lely and Golden Gate outlasted Ida Baker.
Those were just some of the storylines from Week 5 of the 2026 high school football season in Southwest Florida.
To honor the players who stood out, The News-Press and Naples Daily News hand out their Game Balls for the top efforts each week. Here are the honorees for this week’s games.
Akridge rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns in the Cougars’ win over Lely.
Boyd passed for 242 yards and four touchdowns in the Trojans’ loss to Barron Collier.
Caradonna rushed for 190 yards in the Gators’ loss to Mariner.
The junior wide receiver caught eight passes for 136 yards in the Sharks’ win over Fort Myers.
Good passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns and added 63 rushing yards in Marco’s win over Babcock.
Jackson returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and had a 67-yard receiving score in the Tigers’ win at Spruce Creek.
The quarterback tossed three touchdown passes in the Red Knights’ win over Palmetto Ridge.
The senior carried 30 times for 189 yards and four touchdowns in the Sharks’ win at Fort Myers.
The senior had 167 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns in the Raiders’ win over Cypress Lake.
Salgador caught four passes for 134 yards and a touchdown in the Wildcat’s win over Bonita Springs.
The junior quarterback passed for 155 yards and six touchdowns in the Lions’ win over Bonita Springs.
The senior quarterback passed for 354 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for another, all in the first half, in the Wildcats’ win over Gateway.
