It’s been a make-or-break mid-July, and after a frustratingly docile series opener, the Twins will need to bounce back at home to avoid falling more than five games back of the division and more than three back of the Wild Card, with only days remaining until the early-August trade deadline. Salvaging a series split against the Guardians, Minnesota almost needs to win the final two at home against the A’s.
After this series, the Twins get a day off, then host the last-place Kansas City Royals for a three-game midweek set. Following that, it’s on to Seattle for three more, a collection of games that will set the tone — if the tone hasn’t been set already — for Minnesota’s direction on August 3rd, when a flurry of deals will take the league by storm on one of the latest trade deadlines in recent memory.
But August is ages away. Let’s focus on the present.
Brady Basso will open it up for Oakland; Mike Paredes and company should be doing it up for the Twins.
That’s the present focused for ya!
GO TWINS GO!
