Galatasaray has been linked with a January loan move for Eduardo Camavinga, with AS citing Turkish newspaper Fanatik’s report that the Real Madrid midfielder is its leading winter target. The Frenchman’s willingness to leave remains a major obstacle to any approach.
AS reported on September 22 that Camavinga is not currently considering an exit. A separate Tuttomercatoweb report also described the interest as preliminary, with no concrete negotiations underway and little indication that Madrid wants to sanction a departure.
The speculation comes as Camavinga tries to secure a more prominent role. TMW noted that his six appearances at the time of its report had yet to establish him as a central figure in Madrid’s midfield rotation.
His ability to play centrally and at left-back gives Madrid options, though moving between those responsibilities has complicated his efforts to establish himself in one position. For Galatasaray, the attraction would be a midfielder with experience of handling the ball under pressure in demanding European games.
Madrid has considerable control over the situation. The club extended Camavinga’s contract through June 2029, leaving plenty of time to decide how he fits into its plans. There is no approaching expiry forcing an immediate decision.
Camavinga joined from Rennes in 2021 and quickly made an impression during Madrid’s successful 2022 Champions League campaign. His contributions from the bench in that European run showed how valuable he could be when a match needed fresh energy in midfield.
A temporary switch could offer a route to regular starts while preserving Madrid’s longer-term options. That would still depend on the Spanish club seeing a sporting benefit in releasing him during the season, and on Camavinga accepting the change.
For now, Galatasaray’s reported ambition has yet to develop into club negotiations. The proposed loan would require a change in the midfielder’s position before discussions over its financial terms could carry much weight.
