FUTA gets NUC’s full accreditation for MBBS & other academic programmes


The National Universities Commission (NUC), the regulatory body for academic programmes in universities in Nigeria . has granted the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA full accreditation for its programme leading to the award of Bachelor degrees in the under listed courses: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiology, Human Anatomy, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Building and Remote Sensing and Geo-Science Information with only Mechatronics Engineering earning Interim accreditation. This a fall out of the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise carried out in Nigerian Universities by the NUC.

Communicating the result to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, NUC, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu, the Director of Accreditation, NUC, Engineer Abraham Chundusu said, “In line with the provision of the Act, the Commission organized the accreditation of academic programmes at Federal University of Technology, Akure in Ocober/November 2025 leading to full status of all programmes presented, except one with interim.”

Expressing her delight in the outcome of the result, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oladiji said, “This is another plus to our institution and has further confirmed it excellence and academic prowess. This is because of the rich faculty FUTA has both in human and material resources. With the full accreditation of the MBBS programme in FUTA, and the recent seal of approval of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, it lays to final rest all agitations and anxieties expressed in the past and gives credence to the positive status of the medical programme at the institution.”

She reiterated her gratitude to the Ondo State Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Deji of Akure, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi and all prominent sons and daughters of Akure for playing critical roles roles to make the Teaching Hospital and teaching medical laboratory , very important components for the medical programme at FUTA a reality.
