The Federal University Otuoke Lectures and Examination Monitoring Committee resolved in a meeting held on July 22, 2025, that the SERVICOM Unit ensure the enforcement of the University Dress Code at entry points in the University.
This is not a new regulation but an emphasis on existing regulations which the SERVICOM Unit has been enforcing.
Students coming to write the examinations are advised in the best of their interests, to abide by the University Dress Code as defined in section 6.15 of FUO Undergraduate Students Handbook:
6.15 DRESS CODE Students are expected to dress decently. 6.15.1 Indecent Dressing The following types of dressing shall therefore be considered indecent:
i. Wearing of earrings for male students or nose-rings by both male and female students
il. Wearing of body revealing/transparent dresses
iii. Wearing of singlet and spaghetti tops without shirt or jackets
iv, Wearing of ripped/tattered jeans
v. Wearing of saggy/buttocks- level trousers or skirts
vi. Wearing of hip-stars that show boxers, thongs and bum shorts
vil. Grooming of spiked hair
vill. Colouring/dyeing/tinting/spraying of hair is prohibited.
iv. Face caps are not allowed in the classrooms
v. Tattoos should not be exposed
vii. Beards should be kept short and neat 65
vili. Outrageous colours of hair attachments and dreads are prohibited [Red, Yellow, Green, etc. ix.
Sagging and buttocks-level trousers and skirts are prohibited
Students are to take note of the important information stated above to avoid facing punishment.
