FSU WR named 'freshman to watch' by CBS Sports

Florida State has had an illustrious history at the wide receiver position, with names like Fred Biletnikoff, after whom the trophy for the best receiver is named, Peter Warrick, Anquan Boldin, and recent players like Keon Coleman come to mind.

There is a freshman at FSU who CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford believes is a freshman to watch in the ACC, and that is Jasen Lopez. The two-sport phenom out of Hollywood, Florida, also plays basketball for the Seminoles, but he’s been making noise on the gridiron.

“The return of Duce Robinson has overshadowed others at the position, but Lopez has quietly emerged since coming over from Florida State’s basketball team. He handled punt return duties during the spring and cracked the wide receiver rotation. Despite a crowded room in Tallahassee, Lopez has a chance to become a difference-maker this season.”

Other players named on Crawford’s list include Miami’s Jackson Cantwell, Clemson’s Naeem Burroughs, and Stanford’s Zion Robinson.

Lopez was ranked as the 29th best player in the state of Florida by 247Sports, and the former four-star prospect has a chance to make an early impact for the Seminoles, who have a clear top two in Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy, but lack proven options behind them.

Florida State kicks off its 2026 season hosting the Aggies on Aug. 29 from Doak Campbell Stadium. Fans can catch the game on the CW Network.
