FSU football reportedly hires former Texas coach Tom Herman as assistant

Florida State football is adding former Texas head coach Tom Herman to its coaching staff, as first reported by On3.

Herman is known as an offensive guru, and his addition will help both head coach Mike Norvell and newly promoted offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr as they share play-calling duties. Herman was the Broyles Award winner in 2014, given to the nation’s best assistant coach, and has made stops at Ohio State, Houston, and the Chicago Bears, among others.

He’s a creative offensive play caller and should work closely with quarterback Ashton Daniels.

For a Seminoles squad that features 57 new players and multiple new coaches on staff, Herman is another addition to an FSU team looking to turn the ship around after a 7-17 record in the last two seasons.
