Essex batter Jordan Cox brought some IPL flair to the Vitality Blast, wearing Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate Virat Kohli’s signature One8 shoes during his outing against Kent on Tuesday.
Cox had been picked up by RCB for INR 75 lakh ahead of the season and spent two months around Kohli, travelling with the squad.
However, he did not play a single match in the title-winning run, but made sure everyone back on the British shores knew he had been there.
While he came out to bat for Essex, his footwear caught the attention of eagle-eyed fans. A striking amalgamation of aqua marine, black and white, with the One 8 logo flashing on the soles, made the shoes a visual treat.

How did Jordan Cox perform against Kent?
When he arrived at the crease, Essex had lost both openers cheaply against his former county, Kent. However, there was no sign of any rustiness, and on his second delivery, he found the gap through the point.
He survived a close run-out review at 17 and then put together a 58-run stand with Charlie Allison.
Cox finished with 40 off 31 balls, a knock that helped Essex post 187 for 6. The Eagles squeezed home by three runs in the end, and it was Cox’s cameo that played a crucial role in the victory.

When is Virat Kohli expected to return?
Kohli is sitting out India’s upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan with a hamstring injury. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been brought into the 50-over squad as a replacement.
“It’s just less than a week since he injured himself in the IPL final. Don’t know the timelines yet, looks like he might be fit for England ODIs. Not a definitive squad, don’t have a timeline from the physio yet,” Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar informed the press during the Indian T20I squad for the UK tour announcement.
The injury is a frustrating episode for Kohli, who had been in outstanding form since the turn of the year. He scored 240 runs at an average of 80 during India’s ODI series against New Zealand in January, then backed that up with 675 IPL runs at an average of 56.25 and a strike rate of 165.84, his best ever in the competition.
