Four FSU players among top 250 2026 MLB Draft prospects

· · 2 min read

The FSU baseball team has consistently had some of the best players in the country, and while their season may have ended early in the Tallahassee Regional, the trend of players being drafted will continue in 2026.

Per the MLB, pitchers Wes Mendes and Trey Beard, along with first baseman Myles Bailey and outfielder Brayden Dowd, are among the top 250 prospects nationally projected to be drafted.

Mendes’ ERA of 2.90 was one of the main reasons FSU was so competitive this season. His 9-3 record on the mound and having the lowest WHIP on FSU’s entire team with 1.02 certainly helped. In 120 innings, Mendes struck out 173 batters, walking 31 and holding opponents to a .218 batting average. For his efforts, Mendes was named ACC Pitcher of the Year and to several All-American teams.

After transferring in from Florida Atlantic, Beard established himself as the No. 2 option on the mound. In 68 innings pitched, he amassed a 4.50 ERA and went 6-1. He was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week during the week of March 16 as well.

Myles Bailey’s hitting genius cannot be overstated. His OPS of 1.495 led all players in the ACC. He was named a First Team Mid-season All-American by both Perfect Game and D1 Baseball and likely would have garnered more awards had he not suffered a season-ending injury.

Brayden Dowd’s effectiveness both in the batter’s box and in the outfield is also noteworthy. His OPS of .983 alone is impressive, but his 10 homers are tied for second on FSU with John Stuetzer, second only to Bailey’s 13.

In their rankings, Mendes is at No. 51, Bailey is at No. 83, Beard is at No. 134, and, to finish, Dowd is at No. 179. The 2026 MLB Draft takes place in Philadelphia on July 11 and July 12. It will be broadcast on both NBC/Peacock and the MLB.tv app.
