Former Texas A&M F reuniting with Wizards in blockbuster NBA trade

A blockbuster NBA trade reunited a former Texas A&M forward with the Washington Wizards via a sign-and-trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

Free agent Khris Middleton, who played for the Aggies from 2009 to 2012, agreed on a three-year, $17.6 million deal with the Wizards, where he spent portions of the last two seasons. Middleton spent 12 years of his professional career with the Milwaukee Bucks before being traded to Washington in 2025.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the veteran wing and the Wizards had mutual interest in bringing him back, based on the positive relationship they shared during his stint before the February trade deadline, when he was sent to the Mavericks.

During his three collegiate seasons with Texas A&M, Middleton averaged 11.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists, earning All-Big 12 honors before being selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft.

The 34-year-old is a three-time All-Star who played a significant role in the Bucks’ championship run from 2020 to 2021, alongside one of the most dominant basketball players in the world, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Middleton boasts 80 appearances in playoff games, with career averages of 20.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the postseason.

His addition to the roster adds more experience alongside veteran Deandre Ayton, as the Wizards continue to eye a massive rebuild. Amid rumors of Anthony Davis’ potential departure from Washington to join LeBron James wherever he lands, Middleton will play a key role as a leader for the franchise moving forward.
