Former Tennessee baseball pitcher earns win in debut with Dodgers

Los Angeles (72-48) defeated Kansas City (49-72), 5-4 in 10 innings, on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

Former Tennessee baseball pitcher Seth Halvorsen made his debut with the Dodgers. He pitched one inning in relief and recorded a win. The right-handed pitcher totaled 11 pitches (seven strikes) and allowed one walk.

The Dodgers won the game in the tenth inning after Max Muncy hit a walk-off single, scoring Shohei Ohtani.

Halvorsen was traded to Los Angeles from Colorado on July 20 for outfielder Landyn Vidourek, the Dodgers’ No. 25 prospect, and pitcher Nick Frasso.

On July 21, the former Vol was assigned to the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City after being traded.

Halvorsen was at Tennessee from 2022-23, but did not play in 2022 due to injury. He was selected by Colorado in the seventh-round (No. 202 overall) of the 2023 MLB draft.

Halvorsen made his MLB debut for the Rockies on Aug. 30, 2024. He faced one batter (one pitch) in the ninth inning against Baltimore, forcing Gunnar Henderson into a groundout to third base. The Orioles won at Colorado, 5-3, during his debut game.
