Former Spartan not given qualifying offer from Detroit Red Wings
The NHL’s free agency begins on July 1st, with NHL teams making roster moves ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. With roster moves unfolding, restricted free agents are learning their future with the organizations they are within. One former Spartan learned his fate.
Wojciech Stachowiak was not tendered by the Detroit Red Wings, and not given a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.
After being traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Red Wings, Stachowiak finished the season with the Grand Rapids Griffins after starting with the Syracuse Crunch. Stachowiak starred with Michigan State from 2018-2020, and competed with Germany at the 2026 Winter Olympic games.
The following Detroit Red Wings have not been qualified.
