Former Netherlands winger Kuyt appointed Fenerbahçe interim coach

Former Netherlands winger Dirk Kuyt will take over as Fenerbahçe interim coach after the resignation of Ismail Kartal, the Turkish club said on X on Wednesday.

Kartal resigned on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the Istanbul derby defeat against Galatasaray.

Kuyt first task will be a league match against Göztepe on Saturday. If he’s still in charge after that, he will face his former club Liverpool in the Champions League next Wednesday.

Kuyt was a fan favourite at Liverpool and played for Fenerbahçe for three years between 2012 and 2015, but he doesn’t have a lot of coaching experience.
