Former Bengals free agent gets chance with a new team in a hurry

That didn’t take long. 

A few days after being waived by his new team, former Cincinnati Bengals defender Cam Sample signed with the Atlanta Falcons. 

Sample was a surprise cut by the San Francisco 49ers days ago and a mere months into his first foray with a non-Bengals team. Now, he’ll get a chance elsewhere in the NFC to prove during training camp and the preseason that he should stick on a final 53. 

A fourth-round pick by the Bengals in 2021, Sample appeared in 61 games with the Bengals before signing elsewhere in free agency. 

It’ll be interesting to see if Sample sticks at what is now his third pro stop. In the meantime, the Bengals have a four-deep defensive end depth chart with Boye Mafe, Shemar Stewart, Cashius Howell and Myles Murphy leading the way and some nice depth pieces like Cedric Johnson, too.
