Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao 2 no longer going down in 2026 ‘if it happens’

Will Floyd Mayweather box Mike Zambidis this Saturday in Greece? That’s still up in the air, but one thing is for sure: his much hyped rematch against Manny Pacquiao will not happen in 2026 as originally planned.

Mayweather has been hit with a tsunami of bad news over the past several months. “Money” launched several lawsuits this year alleging past partners and business associates bilked him out of hundreds of millions of dollars. At the same time, he’s facing felony charges for writing bad checks to the tune of $200,000 in Nevada. And now his latest exhibition bout against former kickboxing champion Zambidis set for June 27th is in jeopardy after promoters CSI filed a legal injunction against the event.

CSI says Mayweather signed a contract with them to fight both Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao, with the deal stating that Floyd’s next fight must be against Tyson. They’ve gone and served everyone associated with the Mayweather vs. Zambidis fight from Mayweather to broadcaster DAZN to Ticketmaster for selling tickets. On Wednesday there was an emergency hearing to determine if the injunction would be granted, and while no decision has been made by the judge yet, there was some interesting news.

Boxing reporter Dan Rafael recorded the hearing and broke down some of the more salient points regarding Floyd’s schedule for the rest of the year. The biggest note: the Manny Pacquiao fight announced for September is delayed until next year.

“Pacquiao fight is NOT happening in September,” Rafael tweeted. “The lawyers said the date for Tyson exhibition is September 12 if they work things out with Floyd. Pacquiao would be moved to January if it happens.”

Since the beginning of this situation, we’ve asked why Floyd Mayweather continues to do everything the hard way. The easiest way to sort out these money issues is to go ahead with the Tyson and Mayweather fights, fights that will make him massive amounts of money. Fight that he signed legally binding agreements to compete in. Immediately after signing, he started flip-flopping on conditions for the Mayweather fight. The Tyson fight has also been extremely vaporous.

The Zambidis fight always seemed like an odd duck stuffed into the schedule between Tyson and Pacquiao, but fits the bill for the kind of fight that Floyd actually shows up for: one against a random opponent with no chance in a contest that no one asked for. Zambidis is another John Gotti III, Aaron Chalmers, or Don Moore. This time, though, the promoters of the big fights that people care about aren’t letting Mayweather walk away from them.
