Florida high school football standout pulls off stunning feat in just one half

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result.

One Florida high school football team kept trying the same thing, and it resulted in the same outcome four different times.

Tavares kept throwing towards DeLand defensive back Londel Dumas, who didn’t have an interception heading into Friday’s game. That changed as Dumas picked off four passes in the first half alone in a 73-0 win over the Bulldogs on Oct. 16.

The game was called with 6:50 to play in the third quarter due to weather as DeLand looks to make their push towards a state title in Class 6A.

Dumas made an impact across the defense last season, recording 23 tackles, seven pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble. Through Friday’s game, he had 15 tackles and a pass breakup this season, with opposing offenses often reluctant to challenge him in coverage.

That changed against Tavares, as Dumas turned a game without an interception into a four-pick performance before halftime, three of which came in the first quarter.
