The foundation of Sumrall’s inaugural class can be found in the trenches, where the former Tulane coach believes the program’s reassurance is rooted. Florida’s offensive line haul boasts five-star offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller and No. 1 -ranked center Peyton Miller.

“(Sumrall’s) first big win leading the Gators was landing five-star Maxwell Hiller, an OL who possesses a wealth of tools blending toughness and flexibility with sound technique, and he could not only be an elite presence for them in the trenches but is a contender to be able to quickly work his way into the mix upon arrival,” College football writer Craig Haubert says.

In total, the Gators have landed 11 ESPN 300 commitments in this class, including Ja’Bois Smith, who is touted as Florida’s top defensive signee. Blue-chip acquisitions such as Smith and key developmental quarterback Davin Davidson highlight Florida’s reemergence as a contender for top talent across the country. Under Sumrall, the Gators are routinely winning SEC recruiting battles and expanding their reach on the trail.
