FLIPPED: Texas loses commitment from four-star DB Greedy James to LSU

Texas has lost one of its 2027 recruiting class commitments. Four-star safety Greedy James has flipped from the Longhorns to the LSU Tigers. New LSU coach Lane Kiffin never gave up the chase for the blue chip DB, who was born in New Orleans.

James calls Manvel, Texas home now, but he has deep ties to the state of Louisiana. Rivals reports the Tigers made a “compelling pitch” to James and his family during his official visit this summer.

“It has been a really tight race and it was a hard decision. I couldn’t go wrong with any of those schools,” James told Rivals. “What mattered to be most was being where I wanted to be the most. At LSU, I loved the culture on and off the field. They have a great coaching staff and they feel like father figures, especially Coach Raymond. He’s one of the best in the game.”

James grew up in a family of LSU fans and is excited to play in Death Valley.

“All my family and I grew up LSU fans,” James said. “It’s cool that they can watch me there.”

While certainly a blow to Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, the Longhorns recruiting team will now focus on other targets to fill out Texas’ 2027 recruiting class.
