Hansi Flick is sure Anthony Gordon’s maiden Barcelona goal will arrive soon, but the German is still thrilled with the winger’s displays so far.
Gordon joined Barca in the summer in a big-money switch from Newcastle United.
The England international has made a strong start, providing four assists and creating 10 goalscoring chances.
However, a first goal for the Blaugrana has so far eluded him, and he failed to have a shot in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Levante in LaLiga.
Flick, however, has full confidence in Gordon.
“I think Anthony gives us a lot, especially when he receives the ball. He is always able to control it and then pass it to one of our players, and therefore keep possession,” Flick said.
“Of course, as an attacker, when you have chances, you want to score. I hope he scores very soon, because that will also help him integrate completely. But I am happy with him, and I really appreciate what he gives us.”
Xavi Espart, Lamine Yamal and Karim Adeyemi grabbed the goals for Barca at Levante.
While Gordon is yet to find the net, Yamal is the second player to score three braces in his team’s first five matches of a LaLiga season in the 21st century.
The previous player to do so was Lionel Messi in the 2012-13 season (three braces), also with Barcelona.

Raphinha, meanwhile, has contributed to nine goals in LaLiga 2026-27 (six goals and three assists). This is the highest tally for a player after the first five league matches for Barcelona in a season since Messi in 2017-18 (10, nine goals and one assist).
Barca have won all five of their league matches this term by an aggregate score of 21-4, and they have matched their best start to a campaign.
“I am proud. I am proud of my team, and I am proud of the club,” Flick added.
“But this is only the beginning. I do not look too much at the numbers, because they also belong to the past.”
