The Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, PFS Kabiru Isah Jafaru, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

According to him, the team found that the fire had spread to several sections of the market before their arrival.

“Several sections of Kofar Ruwa Timber Market were affected by the fire, destroying 75 permanent buildings and 35 temporary structures,” he added.

Jafaru said the firefighters eventually brought the situation under control and prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the market.

He urged traders and business owners to be alert and take necessary precautions to prevent fire outbreaks, especially during the harmattan season.
