Fiorentina has agreed personal terms with Mateo Pellegrino and is finalizing a transfer fee worth more than €20 million with Parma, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Pellegrino has approved the move to Florence, leaving the clubs to settle the final details of the transfer package. No medical has been scheduled publicly, and Parma has not yet confirmed that a complete agreement is in place.
The potential transfer would give Parma a substantial return on a player signed from Vélez Sarsfield in February 2025. The Italian club paid approximately €2 million for Pellegrino before giving him an opportunity to establish himself in Serie A.
The 24-year-old quickly showed that he could cause problems for Italian defenses. One of his first major moments came when he headed the winning goal in Parma’s 1-0 victory over Juventus in April 2025.
Pellegrino continued to develop during the following campaign and became one of Parma’s primary attacking options. Standing close to two meters tall, the Argentine is a clear threat from crosses and set pieces, but he is also capable of protecting the ball and bringing teammates into attacks.
His aerial ability has been a major part of his success in Italy. Five of his first nine Serie A goals came from headers, illustrating why Fiorentina sees him as a player who can offer a different presence inside the penalty area.
Pellegrino’s contract gives Parma room to demand a substantial fee. His deal runs until June 2029, so the club is under no pressure to accept a reduced proposal during the current transfer window.
Fiorentina has already shown its willingness to invest this summer. The club recently completed a record €40 million move for Arthur Atta and is now working to add another young player with Serie A experience.
Agreeing personal terms removes one of the main obstacles, but Fiorentina still needs to close the remaining gap with Parma. The transfer can proceed to a medical once the clubs settle the final fee and payment structure.
