Fiorentina break transfer record with €40m Atta deal

Fiorentina have smashed their transfer record by finalising a deal worth up to €40m to sign Arthur Atta from Serie A rivals Udinese.

Atta joined Udinese – initially on loan – from French side Metz in August 2024 and made 59 league appearances for the club, scoring five goals and assisting four.

The midfielder helped Udinese finish 10th in the Italian top flight last term, ranking second in their squad for chances created (34) behind Nicolo Zaniolo (51), and third for successful duels (141).

And Atta, who has been capped up to under-20 level by France, has now become the most expensive player in Fiorentina’s history as they gear up for their first campaign with former Italy defender Fabio Grosso as their head coach.

The Viola will reportedly pay an initial €30m fee for the 23-year-old, with a further €10m due in add-ons.

After confirming Atta’s arrival on Saturday, Fiorentina also confirmed Bournemouth left-back Alex Jimenez was at their training ground to complete a medical ahead of a prospective loan deal.

Fiorentina have already enjoyed a busy period in the transfer market, with Radu Dragusin arriving on loan from Tottenham alongside permanent deals for Marco Brescianini, Giovanni Fabbian and Viery Santos Lopes.
