Gabriel Bonfim produced a signature win in the UFC Fight Night 278 main event against former champion Belal Muhammad.
Bonfim (20-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) elevated his status as a welterweight contender with a unanimous decision triumph over Muhammad (24-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC), who has now lost three straight, in the headliner at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

That lead hook counter is definitely landing for Bonfim

Not sure I’ve ever seen a fighter like Belal Muhammad.
Scratched and clawed his way to win a world title, and then almost immediately decided that the style that got him there could fuck off, he was gonna be a bad boxer from now on.

Didn’t like that Muhammad’s corner didn’t ask for forward pressure (at least that I heard of)

20-18 Gabriel Right? #ufcvegas118

30-27 Bonfim
Belal likely needs a finish and Bonfim does not look to be slowing down

30-27 Bonfim! #ufcvegas118
— GILBERT BURNS DURINHO (@GilbertDurinho) June 7, 2026
Belal is getting worked here. No takedowns for the former champ, and he hasn’t landed anything to stop Bonfim’s forward pressure.
30-27 Bonfim. #UFCVegas118
— Matthew Wells (@MrMWells) June 7, 2026
Why isn’t Belal mixing those martial arts?
— E. Casey Leydon (@ekc) June 7, 2026
One-way traffic. Bonfim up 4-0. #UFCVegas118
— Matthew Wells (@MrMWells) June 7, 2026
Belal forgot the name Muhammad 💀
— Dillon Danis (@dillondanis) June 7, 2026
This wasn’t an eye-popping performance by Gabriel Bonfim but he did announce himself. He fought on the front foot when he normally fights on his back and more upright. Still didn’t miss a beat. 50-45’d a former champ.

Rough stretch for Belal Muhammad.
He went from being Welterweight Champion, to losing his 3rd straight fight, at the Apex, against the ranked fighter. pic.twitter.com/SKLytAyrj9
