Fight against illicit drugs requires coordinated approach – Cross River CP, Ordue

The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has stressed that the fight against illicit drugs requires a coordinated approach.

He said this should involve intelligence-led operations, preventive interventions, public enlightenment, community engagement and effective enforcement.

He stated this in Calabar during his engagement with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Cross River State Command, led by the State Commander, CN Anteyi John

He reaffirmed the Police Command’s readiness to support the NDLEA in disrupting criminal networks and protecting vulnerable members of the public from the consequences of illicit drug abuse.

The Commissioner emphasised the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration in tackling illicit drug trafficking, drug-related crimes, cultism, trafficking and other criminal activities.

Ordue reiterated his Command’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with relevant agencies to safeguard lives and property, maintain public safety, and create a secure environment for residents, visitors, and businesses across the state.

He called on  members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information, as security is everybody’s business.

Welcoming Ordue and his team, NDLEA State Commander, CN Anteyi John, said his agency was thrilled by the collaboration.
