Another 32 universities were included in the Reporter category, bringing the total number of Nigerian institutions that submitted data or participated in the ranking process to 61.

Reporter status means an institution has supplied information for assessment but does not meet at least one of the requirements for inclusion in the ranked tables.

The presentation noted that only 29 of the 328 universities listed by the National Universities Commission appeared in the ranked category.

Areas identified for improvement

The presentation identified research funding, publication output, institutional data management and international collaboration as areas requiring continued attention.

It also highlighted differences among institutions in teaching, research quality, engagement with industry and international outlook.

The process will involve collecting and validating institutional data before the assessment framework and rankings are finalised. All three subsector rankings are expected to be completed by December 15, 2026.
