The exercise will continue in phases, with the next stage covering textbooks for Primary 2, Primary 5, JSS 2 and SS 2. The ministry said the same identification and tracking system would be applied to the subsequent batch.
Publishers, schools, education authorities, procurement agencies and other stakeholders have been advised to consult the approved list when choosing or purchasing textbooks for the affected classes.
The ministry said the ranking process forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure that teachers and learners have access to relevant, quality and curriculum-aligned learning materials, while strengthening accountability in textbook provision.
Stakeholders were also urged to comply with the approved list when supplying and using textbooks in the specified classes.
