New feyenoord/">Feyenoord Sporting Director Dévy Rigaux has decided that the club cannot continue with Robin van Persie as head coach next season. The former Club Brugge man indicated he would take a review of the previous season upon joining the club and has clearly decided that the Rotterdam based side need a new head coach. As a result, after just over a year in charge of Feyenoord, former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been shown the door.
Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie, but their start to the season promised so much more. Under van Persie, the side looked capable of challenging PSV for the title. However, they fell apart after the good start and ended up well off the pace by the end of the campaign. Now Feyenoord and Rigaux will be looking for a new head coach to lead Feyenoord into the 2026/2027 season.
Van Persie will likely be able to find another job in the Eredivisie if he so chooses, having done a decent job with Heervenveen before joining Feyenoord.
