In a marquee matchup, the Fever news: Caitlin Clark, Indiana putIndiana Fever hosted the Minnesota Lynx at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday. With the playoffs just around the corner, the much-anticipated game could be a good barometer of their readiness.

It was the front end of the Fever’s home-and-home series to close out the regular season.

Indiana was coming off a loss to the Washington Mystics, 93-77, on Sunday, while Minnesota defeated the Connecticut Sun, 101-89, on the same day.

The Fever did not waste time setting the tempo against the Lynx. They went into the halftime break with a sizable lead, 57-34. They led by as much as 29 points in the first half.

According to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, it was the first time that the league-leading Lynx trailed by over 20 points this season.

The trio of Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell went to work early. In the first half, Clark had 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Boston collected 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Mitchell added 13 points, three rebounds, and four assists. They combined for 13-of-23 field goals.

For Minnesota, Napheesa Collier had nine points and two rebounds, while Chloe Bibby scored nine points on 3-of-4 three-pointers in five minutes off the bench.

The Lynx played without Olivia Miles, who was a late scratch due to a calf injury.

Indiana is looking to avenge its loss to Minnesota, 108-100, in their first battle in August, which spoiled the 37-point eruption of Mitchell.

As of this writing, the Fever are still leading the Lynx, 64-48, in the third quarter.
