Federal Polytechnic Ukana announces vacancies

The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana is one of the institutions established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2014. It is located in Ukana, Km 5, Ikot Ekpene-Abak Road in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act 2019 gives legal backing to the establishment of the Institution. It operates on two Campuses, Main and the Annex with five (5) Schools. All the Academic Programmes of the Polytechnic have been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The Institution prides itself on modern infrastructural facilities and state-of-the-art equipment.

​In line with the Federal Government directives to enhance manpower development in Polytechnic Education and the increment of running from 21 to 41 programmes at the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions at the Polytechnic.

​TEACHING STAFF QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

​CHIEF LECTURER (CONPCASS 9)

i. PhD in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least 15 years cognate experience or Master’s Degree in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least 18 years cognate experience.

ii. In addition to (i) above, candidates should have demonstrated proven academic and administrative leadership.

iii. Must have served as a Principal Lecturer for at least three (3) years.

iv. Must have four papers/articles in reputable Journals, five (5) Book Chapters or two (2) Standard Textbooks since last promotion.

v. In addition to iv above candidates should have five papers read at the National/International Conference/Seminars.

vi. Evidence of community service.

vii. Membership of relevant Professional Bodies is mandatory.

​PRINCIPAL LECTURER (CONPCASS 8)

i. PhD in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least 12 years cognate experience or Master’s Degree in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least 15 years cognate experience.

ii. Must have been a Senior Lecturer in the last three (3) years.

iii. In addition to (i) and (ii) above, candidates should have four (4) additional papers/articles published in reputable Journal and Book Chapters contributed in standard Textbooks since last promotion.

iv. Evidence of ability to initiate and supervise research work.

v. Academic and Administrative Leadership.

vi. Evidence of Community Service.

vii. Membership of relevant Professional Bodies as appropriate.

​SENIOR LECTURER (CONPCASS 7)

i. PhD in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least six (6) years cognate experience or Master’s Degree in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least eight (8) years cognate experience with proven ability for applied research and industrial work.

ii. Must have been a Lecturer I in the last 3 years.

iii. Demonstrable ability to initiate and supervise approved research project.

iv. Published one (1) Journal Article or two Chapters contribution in standard Textbook.

v. The candidates must have since last promotion attended and read at least three (3) Conference/Seminar papers.

vi. Academic and Administrative Leadership.

vii. Evidence of Community Service.

viii. Membership of relevant Professional Bodies as appropriate.

​LECTURER I (CONPCASS 6)

i. PhD in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least 3 years teaching/research and industrial experience, or

ii. Master’s degree/equivalent professional qualifications in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions of higher learning with at least 5 years of teaching/research experience in an Institution of higher learning.

iii. A good first Degree from a recognized Institution of higher learning or equivalent professional qualification(s) in relevant fields with at least 7 years relevant post qualification teaching/research experience in an Institution of higher learning.

iv. Must have been a Lecturer II in the last 3 years.

v. Five Conference/Seminar papers, two Journal Articles or one (1) chapter contribution in standard Textbook.

vi. Membership of relevant Professional Bodies as appropriate.

​LECTURER II (CONPCASS 5)

i. PhD in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions of higher learning or Master’s Degree/equivalent professional qualifications in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with at least 3 years of cognate experience or

ii. A good first Degree or equivalent professional qualifications with at least 6 years relevant post-qualification teaching/research experience or industrial experience.

iii. Must have been a Lecturer III in the last 3 years.

iv. Three journal publication and three Conference/ Seminar papers

v. Membership of relevant Professional Bodies as appropriate.

​LECTURER III (CONPCASS 3)

i. Master’s Degree/equivalent professional qualifications in the relevant fields from recognized institutions with at least 3 years of cognate experience or

ii. A good first degree or equivalent professional qualifications with at least 6 years relevant post-qualification teaching/research experience or industrial experience.

iii. Must have been an Assistant Lecturer in the last 3 years.

iv. Two Conference/ Seminar papers and one journal article.

v. Membership of relevant professional bodies as appropriate.

​ASSISTANT LECTURER (CONPCASS 2)

i. Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from a recognized Institution with at least a Second Class Lower Division plus NYSC.

ii. Must be willing to pursue post graduate qualifications.

​TECHNOLOGIST II (CONPCASS 02)

i. Higher National Diploma/equivalent qualifications plus NYSC discharge certificate or

ii. Full Technological certificate or equivalent with at least 3 years relevant experience.

iii. NIST (Associate Membership of the Institute of Science Technologists).

​INSTRUCTOR (CONPCASS 2)

i. Higher National Diploma in the relevant fields from recognized Institutions with NYSC discharge certificate; and

ii. City and Guild FTC plus Technical Teachers’ Certificate obtained at FCE (Technical) plus 2 years working experience.

​NON-TEACHING STAFF

​CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY I (CONTEDISS 08)

i. HND in Secretarial Studies with a minimum of 3 years cognate experience.

ii. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

​PROCUREMENT OFFICER I (CONTEDISS 8)

i. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Finance or any other discipline from a recognized Institution with at least a Second Class Lower plus NYSC.

i. ND in Business Studies/Purchasing Power/Marketing with a minimum of 3 years cognate experience.

​CRAFTSMAN (CONTEDISS 04)

i. Trade Test I in relevant craft plus 5 years practical experience.

i. Senior School Certificate with four passes at a sitting or five passes at two sittings in relevant subjects.

​CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

​The Condition of Service is applicable as in all Federal Polytechnics per the guidelines of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Federal Government. Positions are pensionable with allowances as approved.
