FCT: Tinubu’s promises of satellite towns, area councils getting attention fulfilled – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday declared that President Bola Tinubu’s promises that all Satellite towns, area councils would get the attention of his administration is being fulfilled through interconnectivity.

Wike spoke during the flagging off of the construction of access road from Tunga Madaki to Zuba area of the FCT to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.

According to Wike: “Indeed this has been possible because of the support of Mr President and that of the National Assembly. When we flagged off the off Bill Clinton to Tunga Madaki road, we never knew that we would have the opportunity to also flag off the Tunga Madaki down to the Abuja-Kaduna highway, where we have Zuba.

“After the area council election, the new chairman now was being sworn in approached me and said look ‘coming from Zuba into you need to pass Gwagwalada and I said what do we do?’ ‘He said he would require us to continue from this Tunda Madaki down to Abuja-Kaduna highway.’

“Of course, it has been the directive of Mr President that all communities, all satellite towns must be linked up to the city. What we are doing today is to fulfil that promise that Mr President has made that during his time, all satellite towns, all area councils, will have the attention of this government.”

The minister also commended the Chairman of Zuba Area Council for attracting the road project which links to his community.

“Is the Chairman of Zuba here? This is what they call leadership. This is the first time he would be elected as council chairman because he believes in Tinubu’s administration and today he has brought something for his people, that’s leadership, knowing what to do at the right time to attract the right attention to hi community.

“You can imagine when this road was not done linking Tundun Madaki, this are the landlords of the airport, yet they have no access to the airport, so when we were trying to do the second runway, they requested that we link it to the airport but not necessarily giving them money and today the community can go straight to the airport,” he said.

Wike maintained that the projects are a testament and a response to critics that something is happening in the FCT.

“I hope those who say that nothing is happening can now see that something is happening. I want to thank you and all our people that by December, before the Presidential election, we would have commissioned this road to the glory of God,” he added.
