FCT Police link woman, guest house workers to disposal of man’s body

The FCT Police Command has uncovered a link between a woman and two workers at a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja, and the disposal of a man’s body later found beneath Katampe Bridge.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed this on Saturday during a briefing at the command’s headquarters in Abuja.

The deceased was found along the Kubwa Expressway, near Katampe, on August 26, days after his family had reported him missing.

According to Sanusi, the discovery generated speculation that the man may have been a victim of kidnapping or “one-chance” robbery.

He said detectives, however, began tracing the circumstances surrounding the man’s disappearance after confirming that the body belonged to the person reported missing by his family.

The investigation was aided by the deceased’s mobile phone, which was not found with the body.

Sanusi said police investigators tracked the phone’s last known activity to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, who resides in Garki Area 2.

Further investigation, he said, showed that she was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact under the name “Safiyat.”

The commissioner said the two had stayed at Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where Muhammed allegedly found the man unresponsive.

Rather than alerting the police, Sanusi said she allegedly took the deceased’s phone and left the guest house.

The situation reportedly came to light after the guest house management made unsuccessful attempts to reach the occupants of the room. The room was subsequently opened, leading to the discovery of the man’s body.

He alleged that two members of the guest house management, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, later moved the body from the room and transported it to the Katampe area of the Kubwa Expressway, where they abandoned it beneath the bridge.

The commissioner said the police had yet to establish how the man died, stressing that investigations were still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
