Miguel Rodriguez looks set to depart FC Utrecht just a year after his arrival. Following prolonged interest, Deportivo Alaves have reportedly submitted a bid of five million euros for the winger.
Rodriguez joined from Celta de Vigo for over one million euros after a successful year on loan at the Domstad, and now returns to his homeland to help the Babazorros’ push above last season’s 14th-placed finish.
Rodriguez endured something of a tumultuous term in an injury-hit 2025-26, scoring five goals in 39 all-competition outings. However, he showed his skill the campaign prior, registering 14 direct goal contributions in 25 games in the league and cup, despite another injury to his groin.
With this move, Rodriguez’s old club Celta will retain half of the transfer fee. Utrecht’s club management does not want to deny the Spaniard the chance to take a step up and tackle La Liga football once again. Previously, the left-footer had played 26 matches in Spain’s top division for the Celestes, but a breakthrough failed to materialise.
