“Fascinating game” Arteta proud of his players’ performance against Chelsea

Mikel Arteta is proud of his Arsenal players after they came back from a goal down to beat Chelsea in the Premier League yesterday, describing the fixture as a game he thoroughly enjoyed.

Chelsea opened the scoring very early in the match as the Blues demonstrated why they cannot be underestimated. Arsenal knew they needed to respond quickly to avoid allowing their opponents to gain further control of the contest.

The Gunners eventually secured another victory in a match that was end-to-end for much of the game, with both teams consistently looking to attack and create opportunities. Arsenal had won three consecutive matches before the fixture, and many expected them to win again, but Chelsea ensured it was far from straightforward.

The Blues possess a potent attack and demonstrated that quality by denying Arsenal another clean sheet. However, the Gunners continued to push forward after falling behind and eventually completed their comeback.

Arsenal have now done the job in a difficult fixture and will look to build on the result by winning more matches. The performance also provided Arteta with plenty to praise, particularly the way his players reacted after conceding the opening goal.

The Arsenal manager was particularly pleased with the overall nature of the contest. Despite his disappointment with the manner in which Chelsea scored, Arteta appreciated the response from his players and the quality they produced throughout the fixture.

Arteta also praised the individual performances within his team, while highlighting the threat Arsenal created against Chelsea. The manager felt the atmosphere inside the stadium added to what was an entertaining Premier League contest.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the fixture, Arteta said:

“Very disappointed with the way we conceded the first goal and we talked about it but credit to them, and the finish Morgan has. The way we reacted, it was a fascinating game, from start-to-finish it was a joy to watch our team play and compete, the threat we created, huge individual performances as well, the atmosphere inside the stadium was something great to witness.”

The victory gives the Gunners another important result, while Arteta can take satisfaction from the character shown by his players. Arsenal were tested by Chelsea, but they responded positively and secured another win.
