The first week of the 2026 NFL season offered fantasy football managers an early glimpse at which quarterbacks are ready to carry lineups and which names could emerge as valuable weekly plays. Week 2 already presents several intriguing opportunities. Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings: Week 2Josh Allen leads the way after another dynamic performance. Lamar Jackson remains firmly entrenched among the elite heading into a favorable home matchup. Caleb Williams also deserves serious consideration after a confident Week 1 showing. Tyler Shough, Bryce Young and Jaxson Dart offer intriguing upside for managers searching beyond the obvious names. With injuries also affecting the quarterback landscape, here are the players to prioritize entering Week 2.
Week 2 Top Fantasy Football Picks – 2026
Josh Allen, BUF (vs. DET)
Allen wasted little time reminding fantasy football managers why he belongs at the top of the quarterback rankings. The Buffalo star delivered a vintage dual-threat performance. He accounted for three total touchdowns, including two through the air and one on the ground.
The matchup with Detroit could push Allen into an even higher gear. Buffalo should have little incentive to slow down here. The expected shootout creates an ideal environment for Allen to pile up attempts. A workload of 30-plus pass attempts is entirely plausible. Expect 280-plus total yards and two to three touchdowns, giving him the highest ceiling among Week 2 quarterbacks.

Lamar Jackson, BAL (vs. NO)
Jackson opened the season with an efficient, multidimensional performance. He surpassed 320 passing yards while adding more than 40 yards on the ground. Two touchdowns without a turnover further strengthened his already impressive baseline.
Jackson gets a favorable opportunity at home against New Orleans. Baltimore should be comfortable using designed runs to exploit openings. A projection of 220 passing yards, 55 rushing yards and multiple touchdowns makes Jackson an obvious top-three option.
Caleb Williams, CHI (vs. MIN)
Williams looked increasingly comfortable directing Chicago’s offense in Week 1. He operated the pocket with greater conviction and pushed the ball downfield without consistently putting the offense in danger. More than 260 passing yards and four total touchdowns highlighted an extremely encouraging performance.
A divisional home matchup with Minnesota should provide another opportunity for Williams to deliver a major fantasy football outing. If Minnesota leaves opportunities against single-high coverage, Williams has the arm talent to capitalize. Look for approximately 250 passing yards, 20-30 rushing yards and two more touchdowns.
Week 2 Fantasy Football Sleepers – 2026
Tyler Shough, NO (@ BAL)
Shough showed flashes of the arm strength and pocket composure despite some first-week inconsistency. The Saints struggled to sustain several drives, but Shough produced over 400 air yards and three touchdowns for quite an impressive performance.
The matchup is difficult. Still, the game script could actually make Shough relevant in deeper formats. New Orleans enters Baltimore as a significant road underdog, meaning the Saints could be forced to throw heavily if they fall behind. That potentially puts 35-plus dropbacks within reach. Shough’s projected 230 passing yards and one touchdown gives him legitimate appeal in 2-QB and Superflex leagues.
Bryce Young, CAR (@ ATL)
Young’s opening performance offered encouraging signs of progress. He displayed sharper timing, improved footwork and better pocket navigation while consistently getting the ball out to underneath targets. He finished with over 360 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Atlanta could provide an even more favorable environment. If the Falcons push the pace indoors, Carolina may give Young more opportunities to attack vertically. A reasonable expectation is 235 passing yards, 15 rushing yards and one to two total touchdowns.
Jaxson Dart, NYG (@ LAR)
Dart injected plenty of energy into New York’s offense. He generated some explosive plays despite facing pressure and a few mistakes. His rushing ability also added another dimension to his fantasy profile. 54 rushing yards and three total touchdowns helped propel him among promising fantasy quarterbacks in Week 1.
The Rams’ home environment at SoFi Stadium could create exactly the type of high-tempo contest Dart needs. Los Angeles has the offensive firepower to force New York into a more aggressive approach. That potentially opens the door for designed runs, RPOs and bootlegs. Dart’s rushing ability gives him a particularly appealing floor for a sleeper, too. Around 220 passing yards, 40 rushing yards and multiple total touchdowns would not be surprising.
Injury and late-week notes
The quarterback rankings also require attention to the injury report, particularly with Kyler Murray and Sam Darnold.
Murray’s Minnesota debut ended prematurely after he sustained a concussion following a questionable hit from Packers safety Javon Bullard. His status needs to be monitored closely before fantasy managers make their final lineup decisions.
Darnold, meanwhile, is expected to miss Week 2 after exiting Seattle’s opener with a hip injury. He could potentially return as soon as Week 3. Drew Lock performed well enough in relief to help preserve Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s fantasy appeal. However, Lock himself remains difficult to trust outside of the deepest 2-QB formats.

Bottom line
For fantasy football managers, the safest strategy remains prioritizing quarterbacks who combine passing volume with rushing or red-zone opportunities. Allen and Jackson check every box. Williams has the matchup and talent to establish himself as a weekly starter. Beyond them, the quarterback landscape becomes considerably more format-dependent. This is where Shough, Young and Dart enter the conversation.
Week 2 is ultimately about identifying the quarterbacks whose circumstances can turn into fantasy production. The stars remain the foundation, but the right sleeper could be the difference between a routine victory and a crucial early-season win.
