Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report: Futures Game recap, latest updates at the All-Star break

It’s the MLB All-Star break this week and other than the top stars, most players are off. With the break, we also got the Futures Game, which featured some of the best young players in MLB farm systems. Here we’re going to recap the game a bit while also checking in on how some of the top prospects have fared in the first half of the 2026 season and what it means for fantasy baseball dynasty leagues.

The Rays had two prospects participate in the Futures Game. One is a top-10 overall prospect on MLB.com. The other, is Flewelling, who won game MVP after belting a two-run HR in the sixth in his only at-bat. The 19-year-old has a ways to go before reaching the majors but is worth monitoring for fantasy considering the lack of talent Tampa Bay has at the catcher position. Flewelling has a plus-bat with 16 homers in High-A.

OF Theo Gillen is the top-10 prospect we alluded to earlier in this section. He’s flown up the prospect board after raking in High-A, hitting .342 with a 1.038 OPS (12 HRs, 44 RBI) before being promoted to AA. He had an RBI in the Futures Game.

We’ve talked about the No. 1 overall prospect, Brewers SS Jesus Made, previously in this series. The other elite SS prospect came over to the Athletics as the centerpiece of the Mason Miller trade to San Diego. A year ago, De Vries played for the NL while in the Padres system. In his second Futures Game appearance, De Vries flashed speed with a pair of stolen bases after a single to open the game.

De Vries should get a taste of AAA before the end of 2026 and will be a threat to be called up next season. The A’s could use his speed; the team leader in SBs so far this season is Henry Bolte with 11. Given Jacob Wilson‘s regression and the lack of base-stealing threats, De Vries could be making a fantasy impact as early as 2027.

Anderson has had to weather a tumultuous road throughout his baseball career. He’s been able to work his way back from Tommy John surgery in high school and became the best pitching prospect in college before being drafted third overall by Seattle in 2025. He started for the AL in the Futures Game, working a clean inning.

In the minors, Anderson is the ERA leader in the Texas League (AA) at 1.36 with 108 strikeouts to just 10 walks in 14 starts. It’s only a matter of time before he’s promoted to AAA and we could even see Anderson get a taste of the big leagues when rosters expand in September. The Mariners have underperformed this season but are still in the hunt for the AL West title. Seattle may need to make room for Anderson to jump into the rotation next season if he keeps this up.

Not to upset any non-Dodgers fans here but the franchise not only is stacked throughout the current roster but has one of the best stables of outfield prospects in baseball. That group is highlighted by De Paula, who had a single in the Futures Game. His teammate in AA, Mike Sirota is a fringe top-10 prospect right now, having come over from the Gavin Lux trade. Zyhir Hope is the other prospect in that Tulsa outfield and may be the closest to potentially making it to MLB with 19 HRs and 80 RBI this season.

Chances are the Dodgers will trade one, two or even all three of these prospects before they make an impact in the majors. Kyle Tucker isn’t going anywhere. Andy Pages is in the midst of a breakout season. And Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman are signed through at least next season. Los Angeles is always a threat to add the top free agent or trade for a big-time player. There is a window in 2028 where one of these prospects could carve out a starting role, which would make them incredibly valuable for fantasy managers. But that’s a ways away.

The top-three prospects overall in baseball are shortstops and five of the top-10 play the position. Arias appears to be the future at short for Boston but started at second for the AL in the Futures Game (because of De Vries). Arias went 0-for-2 with an RBI groundout in the contest. He has some pretty eye-popping splits in AA (.325/.411/.596) with 18 HRs and 48 RBI.

You’d think Arias gets promoted to AAA this season and starts there in 2027. The Red Sox desperately need to get away from Trevor Story at shortstop and could form a very, very good defensive infield up the middle with Arias and Marcelo Mayer. As a righty in Fenway Park, Arias could thrive, providing solid average, HRs and RBI in fantasy at some point in the near future.
