Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool talks for phenomenal £55m Real Madrid star
Liverpool are active in the forward market.
Last week bids went in for Yankuba Minteh but so far Brighton haven’t been tempted to sell. The 22-year-old was the subject of an initial £50m approach from sporting director Richard Hughes.
That was swiftly knocked back – but the 2024/25 Premier League champions didn’t hang around. Another offer of £60m went in and Brighton again sent that bid to Room 101.
It is thought that the South Coast side would accept £70m for the Gambian – who joined from Newcastle in 2024.
Meanwhile the chase is live for Bradley Barcola.
Paris Saint-Germain were originally looking for £145m for the 23-year-old France international. There are signs however that the Parisians’ stance might be softening and a deal could be in reach for just over £100m.
Liverpool linked with Endrick deal
Hughes and head coach Andoni Iraola are not restricting themselves to those two options however. Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed the reports that the Reds have been considering signing Endrick from Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old could well be squeezed out of the picture following the signings of Yan Diomande for the right wing and Carlos Espi up front.
And while the Brazil international is prepared to stay and fight for his place under Jose Mourinho the Italian transfer specialist has lifted the lid on talks between Liverpool higher-ups and their Madrid counterparts.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool talks for Endrick
“Then, important to mention also that Liverpool made a call to understand if there was a chance to sign Endrick on loan, with a buy option, or to close on a permanent deal with a big proposal,” he tells his YouTube audience.
“Liverpool explored the possibility of signing Endrick, but Real Madrid — and when I say Real Madrid, I mean Florentino Pérez, the president, and José Mourinho, the coach — decided to keep Endrick.”
Endrick could be squeezed out again
Endrick was forced to accept a loan deal at Lyon last season – spending the second half of the campaign in Ligue 1. He fared well – playing on the right side of the attack as well as up top as a No9.
The left-footer still has plenty to offer and is a player described as ‘phenomenal’ by international teammate Gabriel Jesus.
Liverpool are reported to be willing to pay around £55m to land the former Palmeiras prodigy – but a lot will depend on the outcome of talks with Brighton for Minteh at this stage.
