FA Cup final: Guardiola, Chelsea desperate to break jinx at Wembley

For the first time in the history of the FA Cup, Manchester City will face Chelsea in the final and both teams will be fighting against the weight of history at Wembley on Saturday.

City have played the last two FA Cup finals and lost to Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Guardiola would be desperate not to complete that miserable hat-trick.

On the other hand, Chelsea played in the FA Cup finals in 2017 and 2018.

They lost the first to Arsenal, but secured redemption 12 months later by defeating Manchester United.

But since then, it’s been six Wembley finals for Chelsea and six defeats.

City go into this match as favourites. They have been in imperious form lately, as they chase what could be a domestic Treble.

Having beaten Arsenal already in the Carabao Cup final, Guardiola’s men remain two points behind the Gunners with two games left in the Premier League.

But before the final week of the season, they have the chance to complete the Double.

However, it would be foolish to write off Chelsea. They seem to thrive when regarded as underdogs.

And beating City to lift the FA Cup, could rub some shine on what has been an abysmal campaign.
