Exploring Christian Anderson's potential fit with the Boston Celtics

It’s no secret that the Boston Celtics need to improve their current guard rotation. Brad Stevens has the non-taxpayer mid-level exception and a $27.7 million traded player exception to work with this summer. However, there’s also the chance he could look to improve Boston’s backcourt via the upcoming draft, where the Celtics hold the 27th overall pick.

If Stevens is looking toward the draft to add a fresh young guard talent, Christian Anderson could emerge as a viable candidate. Anderson has just wrapped up his sophomore season with Texas Tech. Over the past two years, he’s played in 68 collegiate games, with 40 of them coming as a starter. This past season, Anderson took significant strides on the court, averaging 18.5 points, 7.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds. He shot 55.8% from two-point range and 41.5% from deep on 7.9 attempts.

Anderson projects to be a strong fit for Joe Mazzulla’s system, while also possessing the attributes to pressure the rim and operate on the drive, which is something Stevens appeared to value when speaking after Boston’s postseason elimination.
