The Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel controversy dominated headlines in the NFL this offseason, but it is now continuing to spill into the regular season as well.
In April, Page Six published images of the coach and The Athletic journalist from an Arizona resort. This led to a lot of developments and inquiries over the next few months. While Mike Vrabel resumed coaching with the New England Patriots, Russini resigned from her job, and has since not opened up on the topic.
Many have expressed their views on the topic, including four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers. However, the league confirmed that it would not investigate Vrabel’s connection with Russini.
The story was kept under wraps for the longest time, but former player Richie Incognito had a hint of what was happening in 2019.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Incognito was playing for the Oakland Raiders in 2019, back when Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. Both were present at a Super Bowl party and were talking about the matchup between the Raiders and Titans earlier in the season, but it was there that Vrabel introduced the former guard to Russini.
“I always thought it was weird, when I go out, I am a gentleman, when I have my girl with me, I want her to meet everybody: ‘Hey, this is my girlfriend.’ That is chivalry; that’s what you’re supposed to do. You don’t want to make them feel alienated… I thought it was odd, right? I’m having this long conversation with Vrabel, and he’s like, ‘This is Dianna Russini,’ and I’m like, ‘Hey, what’s up? How you doing?’ and now we come to find out all this stuff,” said Incognito on Initial Contact.
If the Patriots do not have a good season, many are going to place the blame on the head coach after what happened in the offseason. The team has a 1- 2 record, but will be facing the Buffalo Bills, which will be a tough challenge, considering they do not have the likes of Christian Gonzalez and A.J. Brown for this game.
