Ex-Chiefs DB violates NFL substance policy, suspended six games

Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Nazeeh Johnson has been suspended for six games after violating the NFL’s Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy.

Johnson, who played a key role in Kansas City’s victories in Super Bowl LVII and LVIII, entered the league as a seventh-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft. A former collegiate standout with the Marshall Thundering Herd, Johnson signed a free-agent contract with the Tennessee Titans on July 27, 2026.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news of Johnson’s suspension in a post to his official Twitter account on August 14, just a day after the Titans’ preseason victory over the San Francisco 49ers:

#Titans DB Nazeeh Johnson is suspended for the club’s first six regular season games without pay for violating the NFL’s Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy. The suspension will begin on August 30 and he will be eligible for reinstatement on Monday, October, 19.

Rapoport’s report noted that Johnson’s suspension will officially start on August 30, and that he will be eligible for reinstatement on October 19.

While Johnson is likely to be a valuable contributor to Tennessee’s defense after he serves his suspension, the delay of his Titans debut may mar his time with the Nashville-based franchise.
