55′ – Tyrique George will be coming on now for AMN, with Rohl going to right back.

52′ – Chelsea rampaging now as they are finding an extra man in the Everton half more and more. Corner from the Everton left goes into the box, cleared away.

46′ – Chelsea start the second half. Straight after the restart Hato goes down the left, beats his man and cuts in, his cutback falls to Neto and his shot goes through Myko’s legs and Pickford gets a touch on it, but it still beats him, 1-0 to the visitors.

Halftime Thoughts – Chelsea have dominated possession but Everton have been mostly comfortable holding their shape, with both sides spurning chances in a bad-tempered game.

45+4′ – Halftime whistle, still 0-0 with five yellow cards flashed here.

45+2′ – Mykolenko heads the corner over for another one. Next corner, same result. Third corner in a row, headed goalwards this time and Armstrong clears off the line!

45′ – AMN gets penalized for tugging Rogers shirt. Ball comes to Neto outside the box and he lofts a shot that Pickford tips over the bar with the sun in his eyes.
Three plus minutes to be added on here.

43′ – Ball in the Chelsea half and Garner and Rogers both go in heavily on the 50/50, and both are down rolling around.

40′ – Armstrong shadows Palmer and cuts out a cross for a corner. Henderson comes over to take it and is met with a serenade of boos. Taken deep in a training ground manouvre and Caicedo meets it with a thunderous volley and the ball goes off the angle with Pickford beaten!! Whew.

37′ – Lovely chop from Vitaliy Mykolenko gets him past Acheampong, his cutback comes to Barry with his back to goal, he swivels and can’t get solid contact on his shot, it flashes past Rohl who can’t get a touch on it and Martinez collects.

32′ – Misplaced pass is found by Garner who clears for Barry to run onto, Grealish next to it and is fouled heavily by Acheampong and the Chelsea defender is booked.
More handbags now as Caicedo and Tarky are wrestling, the Everton captain doesn’t like that and shoulder-checks him to the ground. Here comes Rogers now to defend Caicedo’s modesty grabbing at Tarky’s shirt and both players are booked.

30′ – Joao Pedro rolls Tarky and goes down theatrically in the box, ref Tierney wants nothing to do with it.

29′ – Now Tarky goes raiding down the right and goes down as Palmer steps across him, cheap freekick. Taken short, AMN finds KDH by the endline and his cross is deep, Grealish hits it into the ground and it bounces wickedly and then dips just near the bar for Martinez to tip over.
Corner is taken short and eventually cleared.

25′ – Rohl finds himself in space, doesn’t cross, takes another touch and then shoots as the angle was closing, straight at Martinez. The goalie then holds the ball for too long and he is penalized for timewasting! Neto then comes crashing in into the melee and he is booked.
Corner is poor from Garner, partly cleared back to him and the cross back is good, Thierno Barry header.. saved! Barry rose high and got his head on that one but his flick needed either less or more, went straight to the goalie.

23′ – Drama now. Armstrong goes sliding in heavily on Achempong and he’s been booked! That was a legitimate tackle, come on man!

21′ – Neto gets into space on the overlap, his cutback is met by Henderson but Jarrad Branthwaite does really well to block that.
Extracurriculars here between Tarky and Joao Pedro, and the ref gives a foul to the Blues.

20′ – This is Everton’s first home game since The Friedkin Group announced the club is for sale. Also word is that former owner Farhad Moshiri is here today.

18′ – Chelsea are taking their goalkicks short before Martinez hoofs it down the middle. Something to watch for and put more pressure on beyond just Barry chasing them.

16′ – AMN is found in space, passes it to Rohl who wins a corner. KDH to take, Rohl heads it on but it’s cleared. Spread wide to Grealish who also overhits it and out for a goalkick.

15′ – Sustained possession for Chelsea, Everton holding their shape until a crack opens up for Palmer and his driven shot bounces into the arms of Jordan Pickford.

12′ – Strong tackle in the middle sees KDH in space on the left, and he is bundled over by Caicedo near the touchline. Garner overcooks that freekick and it sails over the back post.

10′ – Grealish seeing a lot of the ball on the left, but hasn’t been able to cut in or make an effective cross.

5′ – Ainsley Maitland-Niles misreads a long pass and Rogers can get away, but James Garner blocks the cross and James Tarkowski hoofs it away.

4′ – Jack Grealish getting involved early, and here he is (ironically) letting Caicedo know exactly what he thinks of him trying to go to ground easily.

2′ – Ref Paul Tierney getting into the Everton players already, blowing for fouls on Neto and Caicedo early on.

Everton are back to home comforts this weekend as they host Chelsea in Saturday afternoon’s early fixture. It’ll be fifth place taking on sixth place with both teams on ten points and the Toffees ahead on goal difference.

The Blues have had a relatively easy start to the season and have stayed unbeaten through that sequence, though they will be ruing not being even further up the table after a disappointing defensive showing saw them draw away at Hull City last weekend.

Chelsea for their part have been mercurial, dominant at home but shaky on the road. The attacking trio of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro have looked unstoppable and the Toffees will have to ensure they break up any sort of coordination between them.

Key defender Jarrad Branthwaite picked up a dead leg early in the game at Hull lined up on the left side of defence and will be a late fitness test. Vitaliy Mykolenko missed that game after picking up an injury with Ukraine during the extended international break but has resumed training. Summer signing Christian Nørgaard has resumed training but David Moyes seemed skeptical about his chances of starting.

Opponents Chelsea are mostly at full strength, but have lost captain Reece James who underwent minor surgery after picking up a knee inquiry in training. Their only other absentee is Jamie Gittens.
