Esposito ‘happy at Inter’ and staying calm over contract renewal

Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito is confident his contract extension will go through without any issues.

Esposito came through the Inter academy before spending two campaigns on loan at Spezia between 2023 and 2025.

Upon his return, he became a regular fixture for Inter during the 2025-26 campaign, making 50 appearances in all competitions and scoring 11 goals. He helped them win the Serie A and Coppa Italia double.

Reports suggest a contract agreement is in place between Inter and Esposito, with the youngster expected to put pen to paper on a new deal that will run through to June 2031.

That agreement has been ready since July, according to Italian media, and Esposito has no concerns over his contract renewal.

“Last year we exceeded expectations,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I came from Serie B, and I’m happy with how my first season at Inter went.

“I’m very calm [about the renewal], I’m happy here at Inter, it’s something that my agent will speak about with the club without any issues.

“The objective is to never settle, to not stop and to always try to improve both in terms of statistics and as a footballer in general.”

Esposito finished the season as Inter’s fourth-highest scorer in all competitions (including the Club World Cup) with 11, while he also registered six assists.

The 21-year-old’s form earned him his first call-up to the national team and has so far netted five goals in nine appearances for Italy.

“I want to show what I have at club level first, and then I hope to have the opportunity to prove myself in the national team because I care a lot about the Azzurri shirt,” he added.
