The Lions meet the No. 3 team in ESPN’s updated power rankings when they host the undefeated Minnesota Vikings (6-0) from Ford Field on Sunday. ESPN’s full top five in its new power rankings looks like this: No. 1 San Francisco, No. 2 Buffalo, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Kansas City, and No. 5 Seattle.

Across the rest of the NFC North, the Chicago Bears are No. 7 and the Packers are No. 15 in the updated power rankings.

ESPN also asked its NFL Nation reporters to share its pick for each team’s top offseason addition. ESPN’s Eric Woodyard identified rookie offensive tackle Blake Miller as the Lions’ best offseason addition.

Detroit drafted Miller as the No. 17 pick to be a Day 1 starter, and the 22-year-old has lived up to the hype. He took on star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson during training camp, and he hasn’t allowed a sack in five games this season (primarily at right tackle). Meanwhile, Detroit’s offense is producing the second-most points in the league (30.67 per game) behind the Bills (32.83). Miller still has room to grow, as he has committed five penalties this season. – Eric Woodyard, ESPN

Miller’s emergence has helped stabilize a Detroit offensive line that has been in flux since losing long-time starters. Detroit decided to invest a first-round pick in the offensive line and the decision has paid off thus far. Miller was able to immediately enter the starting lineup and make a significant impact. Pro Football Focus ranks the Lions’ offensive line as the NFL’s top offensive line unit entering Week 8.

Jared Goff has been a key cog in the scoring engine, posting 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions while leading an offense that ranks No. 2 in yards per game (397.3).
