Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hailed Chelsea for their business in the just-concluded summer transfer window.
Chelsea and Arsenal are among the four teams that have maintained perfect records in the first two matches of the season.
They will face each other at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a game that promises to be exciting.
During a press conference ahead of the match, Arteta told reporters that Chelsea’s addition of new goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez would improve the team.
He emphasised his familiarity with the 34-year-old and commended the Blues for their decision to recruit him.
He said, “Obviously, I know Emi really well. We had him here. He is a top goalkeeper. It is clear what he is going to bring to the team and I think it’s a really smart decision.”
Emiliano Martinez commenced his European career at Arsenal as a youth player and remained with the club for nearly 10 years before seizing his opportunity to excel under Arteta.
He departed the club after winning the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2020 under the Spaniard before joining Aston Villa.
The Argentina international was signed by the Blues this summer for £7.5 million following a couple of blunders by Robert Sanchez in their opening match against Fulham.
Martinez is expected to bring composure and stability to Chelsea’s defence, leveraging his extensive experience in the English Premier League.
