England and India locked horns in the second of their five-match T20I series at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday, July 4, after the opener in Chester-le-Street on Wednesday ended without a result due to persistent rain.
Riding on quality knocks from Abhishek Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan and a late cameo innings from Tilak Varma in the end, India posted a total of 190 runs.
India started the second innings on a high as Arshdeep Singh cleaned up the England top order, who lost three wickets inside the powerplay.
However, riding on Jacob Bethell’s half-century, England ultimately chased down the total and took 1-0 lead in the series.
The weather, however, had the final say, with rain arriving before England could step out to bat.
