The North Carolina Tar Heels are playing the USC Trojans in the Chapel Hill Super Regional for a spot in the College World Series, but they are also making major moves for next year’s roster. William & Mary shortstop Jamie Laskofski committed to the Tar Heels on Saturday, announcing the news on social media.
Laskofski had two dominant years at Williams & Mary and was named the CAA Player of the Year after hitting .355 with 13 home runs, 12 doubles, and 45 RBI in 2026. He led his team in hits (72), runs (65), triples (6), and walks (41). The Burke, Virginia, native finished the year with a .454 on-base percentage, .665 slugging percentage, and stole 36 bases.
He was also excellent as a freshman for William & Mary, making the Second Team All-CAA and All-Rookie honors after hitting .360 with two home runs, 11 doubles, and 42 RBI. He will have two seasons of eligibility at North Carolina and was one of the top players in the transfer portal due to his success at the plate and on the base paths.
The Tar Heels earned the No. 5 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament after going 48-11-1 in the regular season and advancing to the ACC Tournament championship game. They swept the Chapel Hill Regional but will have to rally against USC in the Super Regional, with the Trojans winning Game One 9-5 and putting North Carolina one loss away from elimination.
