Elite LSU baseball signee removes name from MLB Draft, will attend LSU

A top LSU baseball signee is removing his name from the MLB Draft and officially making plans to attend LSU. Right-handed pitcher Coleton Brady announced his intentions to play college baseball, passing up a chance to be picked in this weekend’s MLB Draft.

The Athletic ranked Brady as the No. 71 prospect in the draft. This is a massive get for Jay Johnson and the Tigers. MLB.com wasn’t quite as high on Brady as The Athletic, but he was still a top-200 prospect.

“The big right-hander uses a cross-fire delivery that creates some deception and adds some quality to his breaking ball. He moves easily down the mound and fills up the strike zone, with upside to all of his offerings and a good chance to be a starter long-term,” wrote the MLB.com scouting report.

Brady is only 17-years old. He stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs over 200 pounds. He has all the tools to be a quality pitcher in the SEC.

All things considered, the first day went well for LSU baseball’s recruiting class. Only three of LSU’s high school signees were picked, meaning there’s a good chance a handful of talented prospects make it to campus.
