Efforts ongoing to rescue over 100 kidnap victims in Kwara north community – Police

Concerted efforts are ongoing to rescue over 100 kidnap victims in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this at a press conference in Ilorin on Friday.

According to him, while details of the efforts could not be made public for security reasons, he assured that the issue is being given serious priority.

Adekimi said no stone will be left unturned to rescue the captives, who have been in bandit captivity for almost five months.

DAILY POST recalls that the bandits reportedly collected over N100 million, contributed by the communities, including Woro, Nuku and surrounding areas, for the release of the captives but failed to set them free.

Reports also indicated that the bandits threatened to marry off the younger captives and kill the others if their demands were not met.

However, there has been no official response from the authorities since the threat was issued by the bandits.

The February attack on the communities left scores dead, houses burnt and over 100 residents abducted by the bandits.
