LSU’s pursuit of elite in-state five-star wide receiver Easton Royal has been nonstop and that was no more evident than on Friday night.
Royal and Brother Martin (New Orleans, LA) squared off against top-ranked Edna Karr on Oct. 2 with former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron on the sideline watching.
Orgeron, a special assistant to recruiting and defense for the Tigers, was joined on the sideline Friday night by LSU passing game coordinator and receivers coach George McDonald.
While Royal has been committed to Texas since last November, the Longhorns have been in a recruiting war with Florida and LSU to keep Royal committed.
He’s visited all three schools in September, taking the short trip over to Baton Rouge first for their season-opening win over Clemson.
He was back in Austin a week later for the Longhorns’ win over Ohio State and then was back in Gainesville to see Florida beat Ole Miss 52-28.
247Sports reported earlier in the day that Royal will be back at Florida on October 10 for an unofficial visit as the Gators host South Carolina.
Whoever ends up with Royal’s commitment will get the top-ranked receiver in the 2027 class according to the updated USA TODAY Sports composite ranking. Royal is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect for the cycle and top player out of Louisiana.
